Evidence of possession, described with bounded claims.
NightFall-controlled provenance connects a public research record to a preserved artifact without exposing protected implementation details.
- Preserved research artifact. Retain the source material that the public record describes.
- Cryptographic digest. Calculate and publish a digest that corresponds to the preserved artifact.
- Company-controlled signature. Sign the digest with a key controlled by NightFall Technologies.
- Independent timestamp when available. Show a third-party timestamp only when one is actually available for the record.
- Public research record. Publish a bounded description, record identifier, and applicable limitations.
- Immutable archive or DOI when issued. Link an immutable archive or DOI only after it has been issued.
Evidence-label categories
- Preserved research artifact
- Material retained as evidence that a particular artifact existed in NightFall Technologies' records.
- Formal engineering record
- A dated engineering document describing active technical work; it is not necessarily the original conception date.
- Documented research
- Preserved documentation showing that a research family was established by the stated date.
- Formal implementation milestone
- A record that implementation was underway or reached a stated milestone, without claiming the work began on that date.
- Architecture record
- A documented research architecture, distinct from implementation completion or a product release.
- Public provenance
- A public archive record that makes its evidence category, boundaries, and available provenance materials visible.
An additive archive
The archive is additive: new recovered or clarified material extends the public history without erasing earlier entries. Dates describe the evidence currently available for each record and do not convert later publication into the origin of a project or company.
Independent timestamps and immutable archives are shown only when actually available. Their absence is not replaced with a claim that an external party has validated a record.
Limitation
A cryptographic provenance record demonstrates that NightFall Technologies possessed a specific preserved artifact corresponding to the published digest. It does not establish worldwide legal priority, patentability, or that no earlier prior art exists.
