Distributed cognition
Explore intelligence without one central reasoning controller.
An independent distributed-intelligence research project exploring cognition without one central reasoning system.
The premise
The project investigates a fundamentally distributed approach to artificial intelligence. Its internal organization, learning mechanisms, and coordination design remain confidential.
What it is
Mimetic Cognitive Fabric has completed three independently reviewed owner-token engineering tasks and is advancing containment evidence and live Windows qualification. Its native Counterfactual Skill Crystallization work remains part of the broader research program.
Phase 19 remains incomplete, unsealed, and uncertified. The next containment task is authorized; live Windows qualification is still open.
Autonomous learning is not permitted to rewrite foundational security laws or human authority boundaries.
Architecture
01
Explore intelligence without one central reasoning controller.
02
Keep adaptation subordinate to fixed security and authority boundaries.
03
Preserve support, uncertainty, and provenance around conclusions.
04
Avoid unnecessary dependence on a single cognitive component.
05
Consequential use remains governed by people.
06
Internal components and coordination mechanisms are not publicly disclosed.
Evidence
Current state
Phase 18
The prior controlled research boundary remains preserved.
Tasks 1–3
Three owner-token engineering tasks have passed review.
Active
The next task is authorized; live Windows qualification remains open.
Phase 19
No Phase 19 certification or production-readiness claim is made.
Results describe preserved controlled tests and their defined scope. They do not convert unfinished long-term objectives into completed capabilities.
Boundaries
Original work
Distributed intelligence has substantial prior art. NightFall Technologies considers the project’s complete system architecture and implemented combination proprietary, with detailed novelty analysis reserved for confidential review.
Our approach to originalityCompany-wide governance
Product-specific capability does not override owner authority, neutral operation, transparent updates, accountable use, or the prohibition on hidden vendor control.
